Cardiff-based insurer Admiral scales new heights, having just enjoyed its most profitable year to date.
Rolling in at £345m, Admiral’s 2012 pre-tax profits were 15% higher than those of 2011. Turnover is now at an impressive £2.22bn per year, with the number of customers climbing by 42% to an all time high of 436,000.
Minimal bureaucracy, a low- risk strategy, overseas expansion and the ability to reap benefits from change have combined to consolidate the company’s prosperity. Yet Admiral Chairman Alastair Lyons singles out content employees for special praise.
“A business is only as good as its people and every individual has their particular contribution to the success of the whole. It is, therefore, everyone in Admiral across all the various markets and functions that now make up our Group that I must thank for what has been achieved in 2012.
“Whilst there are many elements to why Admiral is different, for me the most significant is that the management team has been successful in designing a business where the overwhelming majority of those I meet enjoy coming to work.”
