Certified Translation Service

You will frequently require this kind of translation if your translation is to be used by a formal non-governmental organisation, such as a university, employer, or insurance provider.

If you require a certified translation, Wolfestone will translate your documents and provide you with a certifying letter which will confirm that your translated documents are UK Home Office approved, and have been translated by a qualified translator. Both the certifying letter and the translation will be stamped with our company stamp, the Association of Translation Companies certifying stamp and will be signed by the dedicated Project Manager, after it has been sent to you to approve the details. Generally, we aim to provide you with your certified translation within 2-3 days (depending on the length of the text). We will post your certified translation by special delivery, free of charge, or if required, we can scan the certified documents and email them to you.

Notarised Translation

Formal governmental organisations and legal bodies usually require a notarised translation. Notarisation is a more formal process than certification, and verifies the authenticity of the translation. After you have checked the uncertified translation and approved it, we will certify it with our company stamp, the Association of Translation Companies certifying stamp and it will be signed by the dedicated Project Manager. The translator or a member of Wolfestone Translation will then declare on oath and in writing before a Public Notary that the translated document is a true and accurate translation of the original document. The Notary will then sign and stamp the certifying letter and the translation with their certified stamp. This process can take longer than that of certified translations as we have to book an appointment with the Notary. On average you can expect to receive your notarised translation within 7 days.

Legal Translation/Apostille

An apostille is a certificate which authenticates the origin of a public document, which is issued by an authority which is designated by the country where the document was issued. Apostille translation services are usually required if you are going to use your documents overseas within countries working in accordance with the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents of 1961. This convention simplifies the process of authenticating a document that will be used abroad, and means that a document with an Apostille will be legally recognised in all countries that have signed the Hague Convention.

Examples of public documents that may require an Apostille include:

• Birth, marriage and death certificates
• Divorce certificates
• Medical reports
• Adoption applications
• Visa or job applications
• Court orders
• Immigration and naturalisation documents

The process is similar to that of the notarisation process, apart from the fact that the original document is required. This process can take up to two weeks, as the translated documents must be sent to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office after they have been notarised, where the registered official of the FCO will provide a document confirming that the document is legal.

If you are unsure whether you need an Apostille for your translated documents, you should consult the intended recipient of your document, to verify if it is necessary in your case. You can also contact the Embassy or a Consulate of the country where your document will be used, in order to find out what options are available.

Sworn Translation (non UK)

A sworn translation may be necessary for official documents intended to be used abroad, required for use in a court of law. The translation is signed by the sworn translator who is certified by the government of the country in which he/she lives, and must attach it to the original document along with a stamped formal declaration that the translation is true and accurate.
