Frequently asked questions

How many languages does Wolfestone support?

Wolfestone provides services for all languages.

Who will translate my document?

All our translators are qualified and experienced in translation. They are native speakers, who are culturally and professionally up-to-date.

How can I get a quote and how long will it take to receive one

You can call us on 0845 000 0083 or email us at sales@wolfestone.co.uk. You can also get a free quote by filling in our online form here http://www.wolfestone.co.uk/quote.php. A member of our sales team will aim to contact you within an hour of receiving your quote.

How do you calculate a quote?

The majority of quotes are calculated on word count, document technicality and urgency. With regard to certificates, the quote is calculated on the amount of pages and whether you need a sworn translator or notarisation.

Do I have to pay more for urgent translations?

We only charge 15% extra for urgent translations. For a quote regarding your urgent translation, or indeed any other translation, please Contact Wolfestone by phone on 0845 000 0083 or by e-mail sales@wolfestone.co.uk

I have a document with many repetitions. Can I have a discount?

We will give you a discount based on the amount of repetitions throughout the document.

What are your rates for general translations and technical translations?

The rate is dependent on the word count and degree of technicality of the document. For 1000 words, the price is approximately £99 for a general translation and £109 for a technical one. At Wolfestone we strive to give you the best deal possible, so the higher the word count the lower the price per word.

What information should I give when ordering a translation?

In order to complete the translation to the highest possible standard, you may be advised to provide the sales representative with information such as background information on your company or product, the purpose of the translation and its target audience, for example, would the translation be published? Or used for personal/in-house purposes? Additional information such as this will help produce a high quality translation that is relevant for your required purpose.

How can I send you my documents for translation and how will you send them back?

You can email or fax the document to us, and we will carry out a word count and process a quote for you. Alternatively you can post us a hard copy, however we will not be held responsible in the event that the document is lost or damaged in the post. The translation can be sent to you in any format that you require, including a hard copy by post (again we will not be held responsible for any loss of, or damage to, original documents). We can also courier a translation by priority or economy service if necessary, and you will be charged an additional fee for this service.

What file formats can I send you?

We accept all file formats, including Adobe documents, PDFs, all Microsoft Office formats and image files. If you believe that you have an unusual file format, do not hesitate to contact our Sales team for further information on the file types that we handle.

How long will it take to receive my translation?

This will depend on how large and technical the document is, your sales representative can advise you on the timescale.

Will my translated document(s) be simply a page of text or will it be formatted in line with the original document ?

We will format the translated document as close as possible to the original document. However, to smarten up your document and give it a more skilled appearance please use our DTP services.

How can I pay for my translation and do you accept Euros and Dollars?

We accept payment through Paypal, debit or credit card over the telephone or bank transfer. We can accept Euros and Dollars, but additional charges will be involved.

What is your payment procedure?

If you are a first time client, an individual or based overseas we will need the payment upfront. If you are a company and you have used our services before you we can invoice you. The payment must be made no later than 21 days after you have received the translation, unless you are a Platinum Account customer.

Is it possible to open an account with Wolfestone?

Yes this is possible. The type of account will depend on the volume of work you provide us per annum. Please consult a sales representative if you would like to become an account customer.

What is VAT ?

Value Added Tax (VAT) is a tax that is charged on most goods and services that VAT-registered businesses provide in the UK. It is also charged on goods and some services that are imported from countries outside the European Union (EU), and brought into the UK from other EU countries.

VAT is charged when a VAT-registered business sells to either another business or to a non-business customer.

What will happen after I pay for my order?

Your order will be appointed to a dedicated personal project manager, who will assign your documents to the most suitable translator(s). He/she can keep you updated on the progress of your project if requested, and you will then receive your translation within the agreed time frame and in the format required by you.

How do you guarantee my satisfaction in ordering with you?

After receiving your translation, you have five days during which you can raise issues or concerns regarding your translation. In such a case, we can review the translation and re-work anything we feel does not meet our high level of standards.

Do you do test translations or send samples of completed translation work?

We would be happy to complete a test translation of up to 300 words, and would prefer you to provide us with a text to translate rather than send you a sample of our work, due to our strict client confidentiality.

How do you ensure confidentiality?

Confidentiality is extremely important to Wolfestone. Each member of our in-house team and our freelancers signs a Confidentiality Agreement and a Non-Disclosure Agreement, and accept our terms and conditions before we will agree to work with them. At Wolfestone, we are also open to signing these agreements before we accept any work from you.

What do you do with my personal details?

Individually identifiable information about you or other information/data disclosed to us is not disclosed to any third party without first receiving your permission. Any information, data, documents, etc. that we have been entrusted with will remain completely confidential and never stored on an online server. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.

I need a marriage/birth/divorce/death certificate translated. How much does it cost and how long will it take?

It takes between 2 to 3 working days to translate and certify a certificate. To get a free quote click here http://www.wolfestone.co.uk/quote.php or call 0845 000 0083 or email sales@wolfestone.co.uk

What is involved in a certified translation?

Your document will be assigned to a dedicated project manager, who will then find the most suitable translator for the project. When the translation is complete, we will send it to you by email for you to verify that the details, such as spellings of names and addresses, are correct before it is certified. Once you have confirmed that the details are correct we will then produce a certifying letter that will confirm that the translation is accurate and can be used as an official document in the UK. The certifying letter and the translated document will be stamped with our company stamp, the Association of Translation Companies stamp (approved by the Home Office) and signed by the dedicated project manager. The certified documents will be posted to you by recorded delivery free of charge, or can be sent by next day delivery at an additional fee. We can also scan the certified documents and email them to you if required.

Will my certified translation be recognised abroad?

You will need to verify this with the Competent Authority, Embassy or Consulate for the country where you intend to use the translation, as it can vary in different countries and from case to case.

If I find any mistakes in the translation after it has been certified, can they be corrected?

After receiving your translation you have five days during which you can raise issues or concerns regarding the quality of your translation. In such a case we can review the translation and re-work anything we feel does not meet our high level of standards.

What is a Public Notary?

A notary public (or notary or public notary) is a public officer constituted by law to serve the public in non-contentious matters usually concerned with estates, deeds, powers-of-attorney, and foreign and international business.

What is Legalisation?

If you are going to use British documents overseas, for business or personal reasons, it is likely that you will need to have your documents legalised before they can be accepted. Legalisation is the official confirmation that a signature, seal or stamp on a document is genuine.

What is an Apostille?

An apostille is a certificate which authenticates the origin of a public document, which is issued by an authority which is designated by the country where the document was issued.

Does Wolfestone use machine translation?

No, Wolfestone only works with high quality, professional human translators. Machine translation cannot be relied upon to produce an accurate and correct translation. Many of our translators use Computer-Assisted translation tools to aid in the process of translating, including translation memory software and terminology databases, which ensure consistency of terminology and a high standard of translation.

What is a CAT tool?

A CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tool is a type of software that a translator can use to increase their productivity and make the whole process of translation more efficient. CAT tools can be divided into 3 different categories: translation memory tools, terminology tools, and software localization tools.

What is a Translation Memory (TM)?

A translation memory is a database that stores a document and its translation in corresponding segments. It increases efficiency while translating as it reuses previously translated segments in new documents for translation.

Does Wolfestone use a CAT tool?

As part of our on-going drive for efficiency and technological advancement, Wolfestone Translation have invested in the XTM suite of computer-assisted translation tools. This will help increase our productivity and manage our projects more efficiently.

Translators and proofreaders will be able to work in XTM on the same project simultaneously, allowing you to benefit from an increased project turn-over time.

Our Project Managers can continuously monitor the progress of a customer’s translation, from first entering it on to the system to delivering the finished product in a timely and reliable fashion, ensuring that we devote the same superior level of attention and dedication to every professional translation project.

One of its most attractive features is the customer-orientated Translation Memory, a database which stores source documents and their corresponding translations for each specific client. Therefore, ensuring consistency with terminology and accuracy in translation. For example, when a client comes to us with a document that is similar to one that has been previously translated, we can apply their translation memory to the new document and XTM will automatically replace repeated sentences and paragraphs, accelerating the translation process and reducing costs for our clients, as these exact translation matches can be reused.

Moreover, this cutting-edge CAT tool will not incur any cost for our clients, allowing them to reap the benefits with no extra cost.

What is DTP and do you provide these services?

Desktop Publishing (DTP) involves the use of specific layout software to create publication documents. We can now offer DTP services to smarten up your document and give it a more skilled appearance. Our DTP Specialist uses software such as Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to create page layouts with images, graphics, text, and other visual elements, in order to provide you with a ready-to-publish translated document.

Do you provide interpretation services?

Yes. Once you have contacted our Sales team, they will send you an Interpreter Request Form to fill in, which will then provide us with the necessary information to find the most suitable interpreter for your request. This information will include the type of event and kind of interpreting, any terminology or a specific field that the interpreter will be required to know, and the duration of the event.
