    How long does the translation process take?
    This depends on the length of the document, the content and complexity of the text, and the formatting requirements. On average, we are able to translate around 2500 words per working day, including in-house checking time. For larger projects we can put a team together to speed up the process.

    How can I assist the translation process?
    Be clear about your requirements at the outset. Allow for reasonable deadlines. Translation is not simply "typing in another language"; it is a skilled craft and often requires immense research. Give your translator enough time to provide a high-quality product. The time needed to complete the process can be shortened if you are able to provide glossaries of terms, previously translated materials or any background information relating to your company/products.

    What is a proofread?
    A proofread is a review and edit by a second translator to ensure the context of the original text has been fully understood and translated accurately. A proofread is particularly important for business translation as there is usually more than one way to say the same thing and the second translator can ensure the appropriate tone has been adopted and conventions followed.

    We are concerned about the confidentiality of the document(s) we need translated. Can you assure us that the document(s) will remain confidential and protected while in your hands?
    We understand the importance of proprietary information always being treated as CONFIDENTIAL. If requested, Wolfestone will sign a non-disclosure agreement in order to assure the confidentiality of the document to be translated. All documents are stored in a secure environment and no proprietary information is ever released to any person or entity that is not bound by OUR non-disclosure agreement. Hard copy original documents are always returned to the client or destroyed as appropriate. All of our translators sign confidentiality agreements with Wolfestone as a standard employment feature.     What is a Certified Translation? What's Notarisation? Or Legalisation?
    Translations for legal purposes require formalising - something to show they're accurate and can be trusted. Depending on what they're to be used for, authorities may require a Legalised (the weightiest), Notarised or - most commonly - Certified translation.  Wolfestone Translation is a certified translation provider accredited by the Association of Translation Companies (Home Office approved). Wolfestone Translation is independently certified with the new British Standard EN 15038. This is an industry-specific standard which covers the unique challenges involved in delivering high quality translation services. We are one of a very few translation companies who are additionally independently certified with ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001:2004. Wolfestone can assist you with all levels of ‘official’ translation.

    • A certified translation means it has been performed by a professional qualified translator, and accurately reflects the original. For certified translation, each page must be stamped & signed by the translation provider. As we are a Translation Company (not an Agency - important!) - we certify in-house. When we send your certified translation (always by recorded delivery as standard) you'll also receive a Certifying Letter - look after this - it's the translation's legal provenance and may be asked for.
    • Notarised translation may be needed where more serious legal matters hinge on accurate translation, such as evidence in a civil or criminal case. To notarise a translation the translator must personally attend a Public Notary's offices, where they will swear before the Notary that they are a professionally qualified translator and that the translation is to the best of their knowledge accurate. The Notary will stamp and authorise the translation. You will receive a copy of this that you will need to keep safe as a replacement will have to be re-notarised and therefore the same cost will be involved. Notarised documents incur additional legal costs and are charged per document.
    • Legalised translation may be required for court or civil cases outside the UK. Bureaucracy can extend significantly lead times for legalised translation, so please allow enough time. Costs vary depending on the country it is for, but we try to minimise these for you. The most common of these processes is apostilling under the Hague Convention.

    Will you be able to maintain the formatting and style of the documents we need translated?

    Yes. Our translators translate directly into the source document; and, in most cases, we are able to maintain the formatting and style of your document. This includes any tables, text boxes, footnotes, etc. that may exist in your document. Our translators are not only first class language professionals but also are highly proficient in IT applications. We can therefore also translate directly into spreadsheets, presentation documents, and, of course, into virtually any available word processing applications.
