On Tuesday, 31st October, Wolfestone’s office transformed into the scene of a haunted horror show, full of scary monsters and creepy movie characters… But any fear was left to fall by the wayside as this was the perfect pretext to organise a Bake Sale to support City Hospice.

Each member of the Wolfestone team spent Monday evening baking (or buying!) delicious cupcakes, muffins and cookies to sell during Halloween morning. The aim of the day was to raise and donate as much money as possible for the Cardiff-based charity.

The result: a total amount of £170 raised for City Hospice. Alex Parr, Managing Director said: “Raising £170 is a fantastic achievement, and reflects the hard work and dedication our interns Maria and Emma have shown to make the day such a success. It’s a privilege for us to fundraise in the name of City Hospice, a charity that does such wonderful and important work for patients and families across Cardiff. Very well done to all involved.”

The Halloween extravaganza was organised by Wolfestone translation interns, María Gracia and Emma Jackson, who visited neighbouring offices to sell the sweet treats provided by Wolfestone staff. The participation and kind donations from Wolfestone office neighbours Coastal Housing Group meant the Bake Sale took on a real community feel.

María, translation intern and one of the event organisers, said: “It has been a pleasure organising this bake sale and helping to raise funds for charity. The more we share, the more we have. It is amazing how many people have participated. I’m very happy, it has been a total success!”.

Activities were organised during the afternoon, which included a costume contest, cookie monster decoration and, the most popular event, traditional apple bobbing. A wonderful day was had by all, and made all the better with the amount of funds raised in the name of such a good cause.

Supporting Patients Facing Life-Limiting Illness

City Hospice was formed in 1983 and since then is Cardiff’s local hospice, caring for patients diagnosed with life-limiting illness and their families. It is the major provider of Cardiff’s specialist palliative care.

This charity helps patients makes sense of their illness, and support them and their families during the difficult time. Their work is essential and not easy at all, but they are always happy to help. They raise more than £1million every year, to give financial aid to patients and families who cannot afford the costs that often come with this kind of diagnosis. They also deliver specialist care services in patient’s homes and organise various activities at their day centre that help patients to meet new people who understand what they are going through.

Wolfestone are delighted to support their work, and look forward to future fundraising events.
