The level of voice-over required can vary. Some clients require high level, BBC style  voice-over artists for commercial use, others require just a clear reading voice, while some prefer a voice-over by a local amateur. The choice is the client’s. Depending on the subject matter, some choose a male or female for their voice and some specify a specific age group.

We only use top of the line Neuman and Sennheiser mics and other equipment, in a purpose built sound proof environment producing the highest quality audio.

Our Process

We can undertake the entire project from beginning to end. If you simply need a high- quality audio recording, we can do this quickly and efficiently. However, we can also work with video recordings, subtitling and other audio requirements. We can supply a transcription and translation where the original is written down as text before being translated by one of our highly professional language experts.

We then source the ideal artist to record your audio, consulting our extensive database of voiceover artists. This database allows us to meet all your requirements, be it in terms of gender, age, specific accents or any other preference which you express. We then make the recording in our high-specification in-house studio with the most modern equipment before editing the end recordings, again, in-house and using the highest quality software and hardware. This process allows us to control the quality of your recording from the beginning to the very end. We will then send you the finished product in any format which you desire. This will usually be as a CD, mp3 file (this can be either high-quality or an easily downloadable mp3 file) or wav file, and video will usually be in avi or mpeg format, but can, as mentioned, be in any format which the customer chooses.

What is a voiceover?

A voiceover is the process of recording a person’s voice for use in audio recordings, perhaps for CDs or website downloads, or as a dubbing track on a video, etc. This is usually done when the sound is in one language but the intended audience for the recording speaks another.
A voice-over is an unseen speaker you hear in TV, cinema, radio, or any other type of broadcast or presentation.  Wolfestone provide voice-overs by professional voice artists recorded in a specialised studio.
 
Are the voice artists native speakers?
Yes, all our voice artists are native speakers; this is to ensure we can provide the optimal localisation.

Which audio formats do you support?
We support all common digital audio formats including wav, mp3, mp4, aiff, and others. We also support physical formats such as Vinyl, Cassette, CD etc. We will always try and deliver exactly the format you need.
 
Can I have an English voiceover done with, say, an Indian or Italian or even Ghanaian accent?
Yes, many voice artists specialise in accents and it is a common request.

Can you translate my script into other languages?
Yes, Wolfestone Translation is a certified translation provider accredited by the Association of Translation Companies (Home Office approved). We currently provide translation services for all languages.

Why must I state media usage?
Rates are dependent on whether your voice over is used for a voice mail or a nationwide TV commercial. Typically, voice artists charge more for recordings for broadcast usage (radio and TV) than for non-broadcast recordings.
 
What is the difference between broadcast and non-broadcast?
In general, broadcast is defined as public usage (i.e. TV and Radio). Non-broadcast is usage for all other media, e.g. e-learning, DVD/CD-ROM, product and company presentations, podcasts, Flash presentations, IVR voice prompts. One exception is the Internet which can be considered both a broadcast and a non-broadcast media.

Where is my script recorded?
Your voice-over is recorded in our specially built in-house studio. Some of our voice artists have their own studio, and the quality of their equipment and sound is always approved by Wolfestone’s sound engineers before we upload their demos to our database.
 
Surround recording: I need voice over for a cinema spot. Does it take special recording requirements to have the voice moving from the rear left to right front?
No, the post-production studio will take care of this, assuming they support multi-channel surround formats. 

Can I get a test recording from one or more voice talents before deciding on which to choose?
Yes.  Wolfestone has an ever-expanding database of voice artists with samples on file.  You can preview a voice artist before deciding if you wish.

Multi track recordings: I want my radio spot to be a call/response between a female and a male voice. Can I choose more than one voice artist for an assignment?
Yes, we have a large database of voice artists and can use as many as you wish.  We can also have one voice talent record multiple ‘characters’ if you are on a budget.
 
Can I talk to the voice artist before he/she records?
We can arrange for you to speak to the voice artist before he/she goes into the studio. This way, you can give direct instructions and inform them about possible pronunciation issues. 
 
Can you help me edit the recording?
Yes. If you need the audio to be delivered as separate files we can edit them accordingly.  If you have any other requirements (e.g. time-coded/synchronised to a film/video, etc.) please contact us and these can be worked out.

How fast can you deliver?
This will depend on the size of the script, and the voice artist(s) you have chosen.
 
How do I get my voice over files?
For fast delivery we upload all audio files to our secure ftp server. If you regularly undertake voiceover work Wolfestone will provide you with access to your own dedicated client access section where your projects are archived, available and there are many other features.

Can I send you a link to a reference video?
Yes.
 
Do you need a reference video in order to record a voiceover?
That depends on which type of voiceover you need. If you want dubbing/lip sync e.g. for a cartoon, our voice talent needs a reference in order to synchronize the voice recording. If synchronization is not an issue (i.e. for other types of videos – eg. e-learning or TV commercials) normally a list of time codes will do.

How much does a recording session pay?
